I suspect after you ditch UFO's, you will want to ditch Astrology. And you'll certaintly want to disallow my Metaphysics conversation. You might also want to purify the theoretical discussions a little. Space News of course belongs in the space forum....
Out of the 99 discussion folders in this forum only 10 relate to the non-scientific astronomy related subjects. And of course "Astronomy Sucks" isn't exactly a shining example of rational scientific debate....
This isn't as if you're getting rid of folders that aren't related that just popped up in the wrong place. Nor is this about minor policing like what Mr Astro did by pulling Natal Chart folder (I supported his action, but not on ideological grounds). These folders and issues have been here for a long time. My sense is that the mood here is one of wholesale purification of allowable conversation. Think about what that means. Do not take this decision lightly.
I won't be around to see this one thru, but I see three possibilities. One, you continue as you have been bitterly sniping at anyone that you don't approve of in this public place. Two, you do the wholesale cleansing of the offending ideas. Three, you learn to coexist with these other ideas, debating them with civility and a recognition that no one has claim to the absolute truth.
Finally, whether your view is purely rational or whether is is mystical, I think it's important to remember that we're all just trying to find our way.
