>>The only difference 5 more years will make before you suggest *your* solution is to make more time to educate people about what we know *now*, not to discover some amorphous philosophical construct that will save you from having to actually state your opinion. <<
Your religious beliefs have provided you with absolutely no concept of what this exponentially growing technology really represents and the answers won't be found in your scripture. Why the WWW which barely existed two years ago is a rapidly expanding neural network of worldwide proportions and enormous diversity. Think about that. A neural net! It might conjour up the background image of the brain in Michaleangelo's "Creation of Man". Within twenty years our observational instruments will most likely have us at the point of creation (Hubble took us halfway there). Think about that. Just what the hell do you really think is going on here. :)
And by the way I'm not running for public office or supporting anyone running for public office so I'm not going to provide you with some sound bites so you can advocate moral half solutions. Abortion, homophobia, the negative aspects of human sexuality (specifically power) and the subjugation of women are all inextricably related. If you want to solve this problem you're going to have to let go of the negative aspects of scripture.
Last night on the television I caught the end of a show that was talking about the Holy land and there was a commentator who said that in a sense Christ's message failed 2000 years ago because people were not willing or able to believe that we could fundamentally alter the ways that we relate to one another. Well here's your chance to prove him wrong. Of course back then perhaps what was missing was the necessary infrastructure to facilitate such a change. Think about it.
