>>I would recommend starting a new folder if you want to discuss the Scotland tragedy. It is WAY off topic here.<<
I agree, but I don't plan to be posting here very long and I just happened to be posting here when it happened. There are linkages here however and as perhaps the experiences of the Catholic Church in recent years affirm, there are strong incentives for discontinuing the practice of repressing human sexuality and instead encouraging it to be channeled into healthier consensual outlets. I'll endeavor to be brief.
>>I think it's a topic best left untouched in this area<<
Oh absolutely not. This topic has been left untouched and even glorified in scripture for way too long. I'll say the same thing to FOTF that I said to NAMBLA, I have no interest in rhetorical cover for these issues.
The issue of course is child abuse and the forces that compel it and a general unwillingness to deal with it on any level except to look for scapegoats. It starts with the story of Abraham and Issac which in the Bible is the defining paradigm of child abuse, both psychological and physical. It's practically a how to lesson on traumatization. That "God ordained" lesson on how to instill fear and obedience has been visited on generation after generation in seemingly unending cycles of abuse.
In other places I've talked about the need to seperate the wheat from the chafe in scriptural issues. Well here it is. It's your choice. Make it a good one.
