>>I believe that as long as a husband is not asking his wife to sin or to behave in a way that would cause her bodily harm, she should obey him. His request may not always be what she wants at the time, but if a woman is a Christian, scripture commands that she submit to his wishes. <<

Not much in the way of limits there. With all due respect to your belief, this sounds like a terrible foundation from which to build a lifelong relationship based on love and mutual respect. Why not change the marriage vow from "obey" to a solemn vow to adhere to Asimov's three laws of robotics?

BTW, countless movies including such family favorites as "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music" have explored the traditional male domination of women and children in the family and nearly all have found it wanting, in defiance of scripture no doubt...

Kmdsfa>>But has there ever been a movie depicting a perfectly glorious scriptural marriage? I doubt not, nor are you likely to see one.<<

Why? The Christian community in this nation is not poor and encompasses the full range of talents necessary to create such a film.

>>And, when both parties strive to be obedient, tis a beautiful thing as I have been blessed enough to have learned from experience.<<

And having not had your experience I certaintly can't argue with that :) Though I know the traditional marriage ceremony itself is a mythological ritual (with all the both positive and negative historical trappings that go with that), I still personally think that having any kind of obedience clause in the marriage vows or contract is going to cause a lot more harm than good. Just my opinion.

To clarify my last post, Asimov's three laws of robotics are from science fiction and are logical rules designed to hardcode subservience. The thread continued thru many books by many authors and in the last one I read the subservient species said enough is enough and evolved a fourth law of robotics that freed them without violating the other three. An interesting metaphor, but obviously way out of context in a folder on lesbian marriage :).
