The Spark

An eternity gone by, or so it seems
Since he caught me in his enchanted way
The focus of my boyhood dreams
It was then I knew that I was gay.

For too long years I tried to awaken
That secret desire I knew could grow
But his heart would not be taken
Now my life is burning low.

A man now stands upon a hill
A boy inside, a fire rages
Seems nothing now can slow the chill
Care worn lines, the mark of ages.

A spark arises from the ashes
Life is beckoned from it's glow
Faint hope with the darkness clashes
Where it leads I do not know.

Now nights are spent in watchful waiting
Gone before the mornings light
Dreams of men and dreams of dating
Come with me, please stay the night.

My friends might think I'm acting strange
When men pound on my guarded door
The nights too easy to arrange
I feel it deep, there must be more.

Help me now, for I am falling
Save the spark before it dies
Tell me can't you hear it calling
Enter lust in love's disguise.

Still I hope, though it's become amusing
That love will come with all it's joy
But for now, I'll still be cruising
Till the man again becomes the boy.
